    Ben has over 20 years of technical leadership and product development experience. His experience includes traditional telecom, datacom spaces and multi-media spaces, from ICs to software to complete products. Ben pursues a passion for disruptive technologies which raise people’s expectations and open new possibilities.

    Ben is comfortable as a technical contributor and equally comfortable with leadership, strategy, management, planning and execution. Ben takes a unique and pragmatic approach to leadership, team building, strategic planning and project execution. He is a "hands-on" guy who enjoys all phases of product development. Ben's real passion is making things work. His approach to problems reflects open-minded commitment to finding the right solution for the situation.

    Prior to Blind Creek, Ben served in technical and management positions in aerospace, consumer products, telecommunications, and chip companies. As a consultant, Ben has assisted several client companies get started and establish the cohesive vision and engineering capability needed to execute and turn technology into products. He often "fills in" in various management and technical positions where needed.

    Presently, Ben is involved with several ongoing projects. He is a current member of the 802.15 wireless PAN working group, where he was a significant contributor to the latest addition of IEEE 802.15.4 (802.15.4a-2007), working extensively in the MAC and co-existence areas. 802.15.4a adds an Ultra Wide Band PHY with precision location for the Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Network (LR-WPAN). Ben is a past member of the 802.11 wireless LAN working group and has contributed to other wired and wireless protocol standards. Ben continues to be very active bringing Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology to real products and has experience with WiMedia high rate UWB as well as the new 802.15.4a standard and other UWB technologies. Ben has been a vocal advocate of convergence of capabilities of media, communications, location and life style applications.

    Previously, Ben served as V.P. of Engineering for a wireless chip startup, managing RF and baseband engineers to multiple tape-outs; Ben was co-founder and acted as V.P. Engineering of InsilicoDiscovery, Inc., which has created enabling software technologies for life science informatics. At InSilico he managed the development team, defined product requirements, developed product strategy and cultivated relationships with key customers; Ben worked with G.E. Healthcare to create product support and professional services organizations, as well as define informatics product strategy. Ben was also a principle engineer for geneticXchange, Inc. Prior to that, Ben was the Director of Software Engineering for Fantasma Networks, Inc., a pioneer in Ulta-Wide Band wireless communications developing the first generation of high-rate UWB chips. Prior to Fantasma, Ben held senior technical and management positions in telecommunications, consumer products and aerospace companies.

    Ben remains fascinated (some might say obsessed) by the disruptive potential of wireless connectivity beyond existing networking applications, and more recently the convergence of communication, media and location technolgoies to redefine personal device capabilities. Ben continues to work on new applications of wireless to create new product categories, actively expanding his vision of ubiquitous connectivity, enabling more flexible, productive and rewarding work- and life-styles. Ben currently serves as an advisor to several companies working to realize this shared vision.
